introducing [p]plane.
welcoming my first generative art series into the world.
the time has come for me to take a leap and release a cohesive series comprised solely of art created from code. it’s exciting, it’s nerve wracking, it’s happening tomorrow!
i could go on and on, but let’s keep it succinct. here’s a primer on [p]plane.
what is it?
a generative art series, made in processing + curated into 99 png outputs. generative, what? generative art is created by coding an algorithm that is capable of generating outputs. by curating i mean i’ve tuned the algorithm to be able to produce art across a range and i’ve hand selected which outputs should be part of this release. in reality the algorithm is capable of creating outputs in the thousands (at least!).
why 99?
9 + 9 = 18 = 9 which is both the end and the beginning.
why vol01?
as i’ve progressed this has become a natural pause for the code. i want to mark the moment before tuning it further. i could feel that the art was starting to evolve from this phase as i got deeper into a larger vision i have for the algorithm (perhaps an eventual long form release). it feels very sweet to me what has occurred so far, vol01 is an opportunity to celebrate it.
what’s the [p] about?
pixel, paper, processing, progress, point, particle, passage, portal…the list is endless, you choose.
drop mechanic?
this drop will leverage a randomized blind mint via foundation’s drop tool. i’ll set the artwork to reveal immediately so people can enjoy the art. each piece will have metadata associated, which will provide some insight into how the algorithm is constructed and nod at where it’s headed.
